And the name is.................

We've been staring at our son's picture for almost a full week. Well, we have finally decided on a name. We proudly introduce you to Jacob Antonio Eichhorst! Jacob's birth name is Jose Antonio Diaz Garcia. We thought blending an American name with a part of his birth name would be the perfect fit!

For those of you who don't know, Pete's real name is Jason. We're not quite sure why people started calling him Pete, but for some reason it stuck. We figure Jacob will follow in his father's footspsteps and continue the legacy of nicknames with "Jake". Grandma and Grandpa Eichhorst have already caught on and have referred to Jacob as "Jake" a couple of times!!

With the holidays upon us, it makes our wait that much harder. 2007 will bring many exciting changes to our family and we look forward to bringing our son home. Every day is a journey and we look forward to sharing it with our friends and family!

Hello everyone –

Well, after months of waiting and a mountain of paperwork, we have finally received our adoption referral from Guatemala. Here are some pictures of our new baby boy!

Our son was born in Guatemala City on November 26, 2006 and weighed in at a little over 6 lbs. The next step in this process just might be the hardest. We have to wait for all of the legal paperwork to clear before we can travel to Guatemala to pick him up. On average, this process takes about 4 to 6 months. That should give us time to think of the perfect name for him.

Guatemalan adoptions are unique in the fact that they allow the adoptive parents to visit their child prior to the finalization of the adoption. We are hoping to take at least one trip sometime in the next few months to go and see our son. It’s going to be hard to come back home without him, but it will definitely make the wait a little more bearable.

Our adoption agency has told us that we can expect to receive new pictures every 4 to 6 weeks. We’ll be sure to send them out to friends and family members as soon as we get them. Thank you all for your love and support as we continue on our adoption journey.

Sincerely,

Pete and Tanya
